Honeymoon Beauty: Staying Sane on the Plane

There's no doubt about it: travelling is stressful. Even when you're headed for your honeymoon, getting there is work. And getting there looking and feeling good is even more work -- especially if you're flying for long periods of time. Here are some tips on staying sane on the plane.POTENT POTABLESFor starters, come prepared. Plane food is disgusting, but when you're stuck on a plane for hours, you usually end up eating it because it's right in front of you. Instead, plan ahead of time to bring your own healthful snacks -- things like fresh and dried fruit, yogurt, whole-grain crackers, and cheese -- plus plenty of bottled water to keep you hydrated. Your other option is to request a fruit plate, low-fat, or vegetarian meal when booking your flight; specially ordered meals are usually healthier and tastier. And while you and your new hubby may be in a celebratory mood, it's a good idea to steer clear of alcohol when flying as it will only further dehydrate your system. If you do drink, compensate by consuming twice as much water.AIR AEROBICSTo keep your back and legs from tightening up in transit, do gentle stretches in your seat: shrug your shoulders, rotate your wrists and ankles, gently twist your body to one side, then the other. You can also get up and walk down the aisle every so often, taking a few deep, calming breaths as you do so.CARRY-ON COMFORTSIf your trip is longer than four hours, bring face cream onboard and apply it every hour or so to combat dry skin. For added beauty insurance, tote a refreshing jet pack along for the ride, packed with a toothbrush and toothpaste, face cleanser, hand lotion, disposable razor, and Tylenol. To keep things simple, only bring the essentials, and use small portable containers that are non-spillable and non-breakable. Other optional bring-alongs include contact lens solution, Chapstick, an eye pillow, nail file, head and neck pillow, small blanket or wrap, slippers, Visine, sunglasses, and a baseball cap. And if you're traveling from a cold climate to a warm one (or vice versa), don't forget to stash a weather-appropriate change of clothes in your carry-on as well
